How do creative directors, editors and clients describe what it’s like to work with Payam? He's “authentically connected—” to his craft, subjects and the light and space around him.

From photographing kids on a locals-only Hawaiian beach for a lifestyle advertising campaign to shooting a spread with a celebrity in New York City, PAYAM infuses his shoots with positivity, collaboration, play and laughter. His warmth and confidence create a relaxed environment where authenticity and freedom of expression thrive—the two hallmarks of his photographs.

After completing an apprenticeship with Annie Leibovitz, PAYAM assisted at the studios of legendary photographers Albert Watson, Patrick DeMarchelier and Wolfgang Ludes. It was there he honed his aesthetic and technical acumen. As a lighting director for large-scale campaigns, creative directors began to take notice of PAYAM’s own photographs, kickstarting his career as an award-winning lifestyle and studio portrait photographer for advertising agencies and editorial publications.

In addition to finding joy in creating beautiful portraits, PAYAM has a dedicated yoga and meditation practice and teaches workshops on mindfulness and holds men’s spiritual journey work circles. He can be found upside down in his favorite LA yoga studios or strolling the streets of NYC, stopping often to give head scratches to his newly-made K-9 friends.
